How to increase storage space on your Mac
Mac and MacBook professionals often come with a lot of space. Whether you download a large number of files or use your PC as a database or file storage solution, this space can quickly disappear. To make sure you always have enough space to store your information, install secondary storage for Mac Pros and MacBook Pros. Both involve a bit of manual work, but you'll be assured of storage that will last for years.
Install larger hard drives in your Mac Pro
1.Disconnect the Mac tower from the power supply.
2.Place the computer on a static-free carpet.
3.Eliminate static electricity from the tools by tapping the screwdriver against the metal handle of the computer tower.
4.Pull the latch on the side of the computer tower and open the side panel.
5.Take one of the unused hard drives from the Mac Pro tower. There will be four rectangular aluminum enclosures, arranged in parallel along the length of the tower case. Locate the rear latch on the back of the tower and lift it up. The four red openings above each housing will be oriented to the «Open» position. Pull out the hood. In default configurations, the far left tray contains the main hard disk drive.
6.Remove the four Philips head screws.
Remove your new hard drive from the anti-static package and place it in the enclosure, with the four screw holes aligned with the screw holes in the enclosure.
8.Use the four screws to secure the hard drive to the enclosure.
Insert the enclosure into the Mac Pro tower. Lock the rear latch and replace the side latch.
10.Turn on the computer and reformat the Mac OSX hard drive. Click Finder | Go | Utilities | Disk Utility. App. Click the «Delete» tab. Select a new hard drive from the menu on the left side of the window. Select Mac OS Extended from the Format drop-down menu and click the Delete button.

2.Unscrew the bottom of your MacBook Pro with a Philips head screwdriver. Remove the cover.
Unscrew and remove the optical drive, which looks like a large aluminum square, attached to the external DVD drive. Remove the cables connected to the optical drive and remove the disc.
Insert the Intel SSD into the Optibay enclosure. The SSD will remain secure in the enclosure until a SATA input compatible with the enclosure's SATA socket is installed, which is the only socket in the enclosure.
Reconnect the OptiBay enclosure to the cables connected to the optical drive you just removed and screw the OptiBay enclosure back on with the same screws as the optical drive. The enclosure should be connected to the MacBook in the same way as the optical drive.
6.Replace the back case of the notebook and turn on the computer. Format the hard drive in the same way as for any Mac operating system.
